Central Baltic INTERREG IV A Programme 2007-2013

State Choir Latvija has received EU funding and now is taking part in Central Baltic INTERREG IV A Programme 2007-2013. The project name is Five years of the European Union on the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea (acronim Eunecbas) and State Choir Latvija realizing this project together with partners from Estonia - NPO Pärnu David Oistrakh Festival and Finland - The East Helsinki Music Institute Support Association
The aim of the project Eunecbas is to show the artistic homogenity and belonging together of the European music. For example it is remarkable that the Finnish composer Einar Englund was born in Gotland. Now the Finnish and Estonian young musicians will perform his IV Symphony in his place of birth and introduce his music in Latvia and Estonia. Understanding the music culture of the Baltic Sea countries and Europe will help to understand the unity of the European Union and mutually beneficial form of living together. Another emphasis of the project is on the music of Ludwig van Beethoven. The influence of his music is very well sensible in the music of the Baltic Sea region. There will be emphasized new aspects of the music of Beethoven. His music will be arranged for string orchestras, there will be also performed his Piano Concert that he began composing when he was 14, but he did not finish it.
